 Gesine Fuchs was a member of the programming Commission and „track-chair“ for the theme Rechtsmobilisierung (legal mobilisation) (with Alexander Graser, Universität Regensburg). Among other activities, she organized the panel «Zugang zum Recht in der Sozialhilfe» (Access to justice in the area of social assistance) with the Unabhängigen Fachstelle für Sozialhilfeberatung of Zurich, the Legal Literacy Project Wien, Ulrike A. C. Müller and Sabine Berghahn, Berlin

Melanie Studer organised a panel regarding the challenges posed to human rights by the activating welfare state and presented her thoughts on the topic.

Kurt Pärli was a member of the programming Commission and was engaged as chair for various panels on social law and labour law.

August 22 – 26, 2018: Gesine Fuchs presented a paper on “Legal Mobilization of welfare recipients in Switzerland and implicit policy making of the courts” at the “General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research” in Hamburg.

June 13 – 15, 2018: Melanie Studer participated in the “Welfare Conditionality Conference” in York, where she presented hers and Kurt Pärli’s contribution to an international and interdisciplinary book (publication planned for 2019)

April 18 – 20, 2018: Gesine Fuchs presented a paper concerning “Legal mobilization by welfare recipients in Switzerland” at the 8th European Conference for Social Work Research in Edinburgh.
